Two arrested on charge of raping 12-year-old girl in Kanchanpur

Two people have been arrested in Kanchanpur on the charge of raping a 12-year-old girl.

Inspector Birendra Singh Thapa at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, stated that 47-year-old Naresh Giri of Bhimdatta Municipality-10 and 40-year-old Hira Nath of Bhimdatta-9 were arrested and are currently under investigation.

Thapa revealed that they were arrested on Wednesday based on a complaint alleging that the duo lured the 12-year-old girl and took her inside the Baijanath Community Forest in Bhimdatta-10, where the rape occurred.

"The victim has been kept in a safe house," he said, adding, "Further investigation is being conducted on those arrested."

The police added that further details will be made public following the investigation.
